With 2019, Huawei has had everything but a quiet year. The company was first accused by the United States of espionage and then ran into a real ban. As a result, the company did not get the green light to collaborate with American companies, including Google. So, a big problem.
Yet Huawei, despite all this fuss, also came in a good light. The camera of the Huawei P30 Pro was, after all, infallible. It was able to beat the competition from Apple, Samsung and even Google and was in first place in the benchmark of DxOMark. Now that Xiaomi has been able to take over that role with the Mi 10 Pro, the loss of Huawei worldwide will be slightly less.
Limited availability of the Mi 10 Pro due to cancelled MWC
On the other hand, the Mi 10 Pro is not yet available. The phone is already officially out in China, but is not yet available in Europe and therefore in the USA. When the new phones from Xiaomi come on the market, it is still unclear because of the cancelled MWC.
The fact that Xiaomi presented its new flagships a day after the announcement of Samsung shows that the two companies are really serious competitors. The Mi 10 and the Mi 10 Pro can become a serious competitor for the S20 phones from Samsung since the phones from Xiaomi are a lot cheaper. Despite the lower price, Xiaomi delivers high-quality specifications that can come with the new Samsung phone series.
DxOMark has not yet benchmarked the camera of the Galaxy S20 series. The camera of the Galaxy S20 Ultra, in particular, is impressive because it can zoom in 100 times.
How does Xiaomi take the Huawei P30 Pro off the throne?
Xiaomi owes the newly acquired throne to the dynamic range of the Mi 10 Pro. The detailed photos and the low-light photos are also impressive according to the bench marker. Although Xiaomi uses the same 108-megapixel sensor as with the Mi CC9 Pro, the Mi 10 Pro takes even better photos. The new Snapdragon 865 chipset plays an important role in this.
Xiaomi has secured first place not only with photos but also with videos. The Mi 10 Pro excels, especially in its stabilization. The fast autofocus also contributes to the bag.
Whether Xiaomi can keep the crown on DxoMark for a long time remains to be seen. Once the Galaxy S20 Ultra has been reviewed and the Huawei P40 has been released, real fire baptism is waiting.
